Show December 18, 2011 December 20, 2011 Stanger Stanger Pearl Millard Stanger of Marriott- Slaterville will celebrate her 95th birthday. Born Dec. 24, 1916, in Marriott, she resided there as a child and attended the one-room school house until she went to Weber High School, where she graduated. She continued her education at Ogden Beauty School. After her graduation, she was unable to find employment due to economic hard times. She later was employed at Del Monte, preparing tomatoes, beans, and peas for canning. After her family was raised, she worked at the Internal Revenue Service. While raising her family \Hth her husband in the poultry business, she was known as the "Egg Lady," selling fresh eggs to many friends and neighbors. She was also a seamstress for l&mily and friends. • While her children attended school, she worked in the PTA. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Primary and Relief Society organizations. She and her husband, J Leland Stanger, just celebrated tfieir 75th anniversary. They sjquare danced, worked on the farm and poultry business, and l|uilt their family home. •^jpie enjoys watching sunsets, walks in the outdoors, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, visiting teaching, picking and cooking vegetables from the garden, pruning her flowers. |er five children and spouses ~)allas and Sharon Stanger, Ian and Curtis Smout, Leon and Lynda Stanger, Jerry D. 4ind Teri Stanger, and Don R. 4nd Jeri Sue Stanger. She has |3 grandchildren and 42 greatgrandchildren. WSU's Oram nabs another honor Once again Weber State senior offensive lineman J.C. Oram has earned Ail- American honors, this time earning second team All- America honors Monday from The Sports Network. Oram is now a consensus All- Oram American having previously been named to the Associated Press All-America first team and a first team Ail-American from the American Football Coaches Association. The Sports Network's All-America team is voted on by a national panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, and writers based only on the regular season. The Marriott-Slaterville native is one of 14 players from the Big Sky Conference to earn The Sports Network honors. Southern Utah's Austin Minifee earned second- team kick returner honors. 270 |
