Bits and Pieces While many of our residents were enjoying the Freedom Celebration Parade, one resident, Pete Tefertiler-Basset, complained about it in a letter to the Editor of the Standard Examiner, dated July 12, 2011. He complained this his family and others were held prisoners in their subdivision for nearly 45 minutes waiting for the parade to pass, because of police blocks on the route. An answering letter dated July 16, 2011, from Taylor Marie Warren, of Roy, suggested that planning to leave earlier would have solved the problem, and that the family should enjoy the parade, "as all true Americans would." Brandon Martin, son of Jason and Angie Martin, was born on July 5, 2011. Mason Gerriet Wood, son of Matt and Michelle Wood, was born on July 6, 2011. Smith of Ruby Valley, Nevada, a long-time (65 years) cattle rancher. "Pick an occupation that you love, then you'll never have to retire." This is another side of city resident Bert Smith, better known in Marriott-Slaterville as the owner of Smith and Edwards. He must love that business also, as he hasn't retired from it, either. 169 |
