Show Marriott-Slaterville History May 2011 Mayor Butler thanked the council members and staff and all who helped with the flooding situation. Mr. Morris commended Kim Slater for all his work during the emergency. The need to be watchful of blockages in Mill Creek and Four Mile was noted. The county will fill pot holes as soon as weather permits. President Dennis Ilium said the dead end on 700 South needs to be chipped again. The road in the worst condition is 1200 West between 12th and 17** Streets, which will be overlaid this summer. The engineer is still unsure if part of 400 North will need to be redone based upon the compaction test failure from last fall's reconstruction. The Utah Renaissance Festival and Fantasy Faire was held at 1723 West 1350 South, an alternate location provided by the generosity of Advanced Paving. Sue Bodily of the Festival, reported a successful activity and thanked Mr. Morris for his help in arranging for the site. Our city garnered national attention at the Faire as National Geographic filmed the jousting company, the Knights of Mayhem, on May 14, 2011. A Tennis Block Party, designed to expose new and prospective tennis players to the sport, was held on May 21, 2011, from 9:30 am. to 12:00 noon, at the Harrisville Tennis Courts. Daylynn Brandley issued a call for children of all ages to share their talent and take part in this summer's "Music in the Park." The first one is scheduled for June 25, 2011. Diabetes was the subject of the Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital Center Senior Health Connection Newsletter, which explained the seriousness and symptoms of the disease. It also listed their seminars and screenings for the month of June, and announced the Senior Picnic on June 24, at Sand Ridge Park. Bits and Pieces Ruby Briggs Layne, age 89, died on May 2, 2011. Easton Scott Zinz, son of Daniel and Dana Zinz, was born on May 12, 2011.
