Show April 2, 2011 May 2, 2011 June 20, 2011 Reva Jones DeVries MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE - Reva DeVries, 86, passed away on April 2, 2011 peacefully at home. She was born in Kaysville, Utah on February 4, 1925 to Robert W. and Hattie Jones. She attended Ogden High School. She married Cornelius DeVries on June 26, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a generous and loving grandma. She enjoyed flowers, traveling and being with her family. She is survived by her children, Kay (Rob) Isakson, Gail (Douglas) Heslop, Kevin DeVries and Hal DeVries; eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; sister, Leora (Cake, deceased). The viewing will be held at the Marriott-Slaterville Chapel, 250 N. 1500 W., Thursday, April 7 from 6-8 pm. A Graveside service will be held at Lindquist's Washington Heights Cemetery, 4500 Washington Blvd., South Ogden, on April 8th, 2011, at 1 pm. Ruby Briggs Layne Together Again MARRIOTT/SLATERVILLE - Our beloved family Matriarch returned to our Heavenly Father and her precious husband, Earl, on Monday, May 2, 2011. Ruby was born December 28, 1921 in Hooper, Utah the only ■ daughter of Lyman and Pearl Briggs. On November 20, 1940, Ruby' married the love of her life, Earl Layne. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on March 1, 1961. Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many joyful church callings. Over the years, she has been an active supporter, attending almost all sporting events of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was recently blessed with the birth of her 5th generation grandson. Words cannot express how happy and proud she was to be here for him. Ruby is survived by four children, William (Judy) Layne, Linda (Butch) Messenger, Ray (Jean) Layne and Debbie (Kevin) Peer; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, one great- great-grandson, with her second on the way. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, her parents, three brothers, Bert, Faye, Earl and a beautiful granddaughter, Julie. Funeral services will be held Friday May 6th at 11 a.m. at the Marriott/Slaterville 2nd Ward Chapel, 250 North 1500 West. The family will meet with I friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Hooper Cemetery. Slater SLATERVILLE - Our special, wonderful, gracious mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; Fawn Bybee Slater, 93, passed away June 20, 2011. She was born February 23, 1918 in Uintah, Utah the daughter of Byron and Mary Stoddard By- bee. She attended Birchcreek School and graduated from Weber High School. Fawn married Alma K. Slater August 8, 1936 in Ogden, Utah; they were married for 57 years. They carried on the family tradition of farming in Slaterville throughout their lives. Fawn was a member of the LDS Church; she served as Relief Society President and was a Primary teacher. She enjoyed sewing, camping, with many extended family trips to the Grey's River, quilting, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren and children. Fawn is survived by two sons and one daughter, Lane (Myrth) Slater; Randy (Jill) Slater and Linda Slater; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; and brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Ogden City Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. prior to the service. Special thanks to Kim Slater (Bishop) and the Bishopric, Myers, friends and family.
