Show October 11, 2011 October 25, 2011 Darrell Geary Mecham Darrell Geary Mecham passed away on October 11, 2011. He was born on May 21, 1924 in Milton, Utah the son of Leland Henry and Reta Agnes Geary Mecham. He was the fourth of ten children. He spent his younger years on the family farm in Milton. He later volunteered for the service in World War II. He served with the 1 st Marine Division in the Pacific. Upon returning home, he married Norine Hoskins on May 8, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple. They had eight children: Linda (Giles) Crowton of Washington Terrace, Elaine (Marc) Durham of San Diego, CA, Alan (Kathy) Mecham of West Haven, Denis Mecham (deceased), Kathy Mecham (deceased), Steve (Karen) Mecham of Marriott-Slaterville, Diane (Brent) Wood of Eden, and Carolyn Rutherford of Marriott- Slaterville, 28 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. Darrell had been employed at the Utah Power and Light Company and the Railroad. He and his wife loved dancing and danced with a number of friends as much as three nights a week for many years. He had many fond memories of their dancing. He volunteered his time to the Marriott-Slaterville City for a number of years. A public service award was named in his honor, which is used to award community service volunteers. He enjoyed camping and hunting with family and friends. He loved the Manti and Uintah Mountains and volunteered cut- ! ting and clearing trails in the Uin- tahs and loved every minute of I the work and the beauty of the I mountains. Darrell is survived by six chil- j dren, three sisters and two broth- | ers. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Norine, parents, son Dennis, daughter Kathy, son-in-law Marc, brothers Ellis and Ray, sisters LaVoil and June. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Ogden Rehab Center after she had completed her life adventure in this beautiful world at age 91. She was born April 18, 1920, a daughter of Beatrice Holmes and Archie Stanger in Marriott, Utah at the family home. Connie married Daniel Brown in Ogden, Utah on December 24, 1942. Their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Kanesville (West Haven) for 42 years where they had many friends and raised their five sons. After the death of her husband she moved back to Marriott in 1997. Mom learned at a very young age the value of hard work and fun on the family farm along the side of her dad, brothers, and sisters. She attended Marriott grade school and graduated from Weber High School and LDS Seminary. She worked for S.H. Kress, Payless, Auerbachs, and Skaggs Drug Stores. She also worked for IRS. She was a member of the Railroad Ladies Auxiliary and Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Mom was always a strong member of the LDS Church, serving many ward and stake callings in the MIA and Relief Society. She ways had a friendly smile and a compassionate heart. She ha great appreciation for life and all it blessed her with. She had a de| love and concern for each member of her family She loved all sports and especially enjoyed bowling on vario teams. Dancing was her favorite activity in her younger years a she met Dan at the Berthana Ballroom. Her special interests were family, church, friends, the big flower garden in Kanesville, reading, and swimming at the Roy Complex until the age of 86. Mother is survived by five sons, Steven (Earlene) Brown, Lynn Brown, Randy (Shelley) Brown, Danny (Barbara) Brown, Kent (Tamara) Brown; 18 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by brothers Archie and Lee Stanger, and sister, Sharon Turnblom. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Brown; her parents, Beatrice and Archie Stanger; brother, Eugene Stanger; sisters, Leila Holmes, Sally Mitchell and Donna Minor; granddaughter Rachael Brown; grandson, Eric Brown and great-grandson, Levi Brown. Thanks to everyone that helped mom, with a special thanks to her neighbor Barbara Barrows for her kindness and love. Special thanks to Hospice Care especially Tiffany, Bonnie, Gloria, Loni, Sheri and the Mount Ogden Health and Rehab Center. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Marriott Slaterville Church (1500 W. 250 N.). A viewing for friends and family will be held on Friday, October 28th at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 to 1045 a.m. at the church.
