Dennis Ilium filed for the east district. Rob Smout filed for the West district. Scott VanLeeuwen filed for the at-large seat. All seats are uncontested so the local election is cancelled. State law allows the uncontested elections to be cancelled to save tax money. The city saved approximately $4,500 in election cost which will be re-appropriated to the general fund. FALL CLEAN-UP Fall Clean-up is scheduled October 21-23. A dumpster will be located at Marriott Park and at Slaterville Park. Please put all garbage completely inside the dumpster, not on the ground. This is a complimentary service, please be considerate of others and do not monopolize the dumpster. Waste Management requests no tires or hazardous material be dumped. For junk cars, call Bill at the City Office, 801-627-1919 ext. 205. TRUNK-OR-TREAT Trunk-or-Treat is at Slaterville Park (250 N 2250W) on Monday, October 31. Set-up starts at 5:30 PM, and treats start 6:00 PM sharp. Come circle the wagons around the haunted grounds. Feast on hot dogs, donuts, and hot chocolate for $1.00. Bring your bag of candy if you want to participate. There will be candy galore and prizes. Bring a carved pumpkin, dress-up, and decorate your car. Make a haunted house in a tent or your trailer. In case of inclement weather an alternate location may be posted. /LEEPY MILL CREEK HOLLOW Sleepy Millcreek Hollow will be open October 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29th for the 2011 season. This year the festival will be held at Green Barn Gardens, just west of 2000 West and 1/2 mile south of exit 346 off 1-15 in Marriott-Slaterville City. The address is 195 South 2250 West, Marriott-Slaterville. The festival will feature displays on how to haunt your castle, great food, storytellers, family fun, and classic horror films (shown inside the historic green barn). Additionally, the sinister "Trail of Terror" will be open for only the very brave. Those who venture that dark and horrifying path are cautioned to watch their heads, as the headless horseman will be certain to make a terrifying appearance! Experience this year's Sleepy Millcreek Hollow and Halloween Movies in the Bam for $3 per person (11 and older), and $2 (10 and under). For those brave souls who want to walk the "Trail of Terror" it is an additional cost of $5. (Recommended for over 8 only). Hours: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursdays and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The "Trail of Terror" open after dark until 11 PM. Proceeds from this festival will be used to help Pack and Pounce Animal Rescue save lives, and to restore the roof of the iconic Green Barn. This festival is not affiliated with the city.
