Show In Memorium NELSON KENT ALGER, age 24, Airman 1.C. died April of a gunshot wound. He was a Hill Air Force Base air policeman, had attended Weber and Utah State, and was a graduate of the College of Eastern Utah. ANGUS E. BERLIN, age 93 died in January. Before retirement he was district manager for the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York and had been Weber County recorder. STEPHEN S. BLAIR, died February at the age of 85. Living in Pocatello, Idaho he had owned and operated the Blair Fry Motor Company. EUGENE E. BROUGH, class of ’41, died of natural causes at the age of 52. He had been employed with the data processing centers for companies as Pacific Northwest Pipeline Corp., LDS Church offices and the University of Utah. BRUCE F. CARTER, age 29 formerly of Ogden, died in February. He was owner and operator of the Blue Max Stereo Shop in Ogden and on the board of directors of the Carter Supply Co. HAZEL SAXTON CHASE of Eastlake, Ohio, died at the age of 51 in March. Formerly of Ogden, her husband is William J. Chase. died in CHENEY, EATON BYRON January at the age of 48. He worked for 22 years as a brakeman for the Union Pacific; retiring he became a self employed electrician. LELAND W. GIBSON, died in March at the age of 72. He was a farmer and formerly worked at Defense Depot, Ogden and the Deseret Industries. THOMAS GOODALE, age 88 died In February. Formerly employed with Hill Air Force Base, he also operated a farm in Roy. BELVA WILSON GRASBY died in March at the age of 66. She had been active in church and civic affairs and had been a member of the Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City. of HICKENLOOPER TERRY RUBY Layton died in February at the age of 85. She was active in her church affairs and was an honorary Golden Gleaner and a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. PETER KASIUS, age 78 of Great Neck New York died of a heart ailment in February. He had served as deputy commissioner of Welfare for the State of New York. age 52 died in JOE W. LAYTON, February from cancer. Class of 39, he taught music in Salt Lake City schools and was one of the organizers and conductors of ; the All-City orchestra. CALEB M. MARRIOTT, age 91 died in March. A retired attorney at law, sheep rancher and farmer, he had also been a clerk in the juvenile court of Weber County and later served as judge in the same court. NELLIE TAYLOR MAW of Plain City died in February following a short illness. Being active in her church she resided in Harrisville for 37 years and in Plain City for 39 years. SHARON STEPHENS MCLEAN, died from an extended illness at the age of 37. She was affiliated with LaDianaeda Club when in college and was active in her church. JOHN C. MURPHY, class of ’46, died in April following a heart attack. Past 15 years he had been assistant professor of micorbiology at Idaho State University. MARY ELLEN PRICE NYLAND, age 77 died in April. An Ogden native, ‘she graduated from the Academy in 1914; had worked at the Defense Depot Ogden. LEONARD M. PETERSEN, age 65 died in March from an extended illness. He lived in Penrose where he owned and operated a farm and also drove a school bus for 18 years. BURT LEE. PHILLIPS, formerly of Brigham City, died in February at the age of 53. He had been an accountant at Lockheed Aircraft in Los Angeles and had lived in California for the past 30 years. MARY MAURINE PORTER ROOT, age 66 died in January. She was from Clearfield and had been a nurse at the Dee hospital. VERNA E. STALLINGS of Eden died at the age of 72 in February. She worked at the Defense Depot Ogden and Boyle Furniture as an interior director prior to retiring. CHARLES E. STEED of Clearfield died in February at the age of 82. He was a retired as a field farmer and had worked representative for the Smith Canning Co, and as a Davis County deputy assessor. ERNEST W. TAYLOR died at the age of 80 in March. Former foreman of the American Railway Express Co. and a lifelong resident of Ogden. EDWIN T. VEST, class of ’22 died in April from a lingering illness. He was the first studentbody president at Weber Academy; prior to retiring he taught in the Morgan School district. ORLANDO C. WADE died in Fresno, California in January at the age of 82. He worked 42 years as a machinist welder for the Southern Pacific Company prior to retiring. LAWRENCE D. WILDE class of 715 of Brigham City died in April at the age of 78. He had taught school in Mount Pleasant and Brigham City until retirement.
