COMMENT Weber State College Alumni Association, January 1976 ALUMNI TRAVEL CAPTIVATES 400 “I don’t believe I’ve ever had so much fun in my life,’”’ reports Myrene Van Dyke, class of ’46 after returning from the recent alumni trip to Hawaii. Her comment and hundreds of similar statements have been heard frequently at the conclusion of each of the four trips the Weber State College Alumni Association has sponsored this past year. To date, WSC Alumni have been to Mexico’s pyramids of the sun and moon, viewed and enjoyed the beauties of San Francisco, golfed and been entertained in famous Las Vegas, and have had the time of their life in unforgetable Hawaii. Mr. Alan Hall, Director of Alumni, reports that more than 400 alumni have traveled with him: this year to see the wonders of many exciting places. ‘‘I believe alumni travel is only beginning and feel certain more and more alumni will participate with us as time goes by,’ says Mr. Hall. According to the director, the purpose of alumni travel is to provide worthwhile and enjoyable travel experiences for Weber State Alumni at a reasonable cost. An expanded alumni travel program began as a result of information received from an alumni questionnaire. Data from a random sample showed that a large percentage of former students felt the Alumni Association should sponsor some type of travel program. To fulfill this request, the Alumni Association began by sponsoring an eight day excursion to Mexico. The data from the questionnaire proved to be valid as fifty alumni immediately signed up for the trip “south of the border’’ following its Hawaii Highlights announcement. Similar responses were experienced with the San Francisco Fine Arts Tour in October.
