Show Page 8 April 1978 Comment In Memoriam ALAN DENNIS COOK, 47, Lake Shore, formerly of Ogden, died Feb. 16, 1978 in the Payson hospital. He was an _ associate professor of religion at Brigham Young University. He attended WSC, and U. of U., graduating from BYU with a B.A. and M.A. Surviving are his widow, the former Martha MARION H. PENROD, 65, Sandy, died Feb. 20, 1978 in Salt Lake City. He graduated from WSC and received a masters degree from Utah State University. He was a member of the Planning Board of Adjustments for Sandy City, and worked for the Jordan School District for 39 years. He was director of vocational education for the Jordan School District. He is survived by his wife, the former Vera Mae Thomas, four sons. WAYNE L. VENABLE, 50, Roy, died March 10 in Ogden of natural causes. He was currently employed at WSC as a planning coordinator. He was also an architectural KARMEN G. TROUT, 63, North Ogden, died — Feb. 19, 1978, in Ogden. She attended. WSC and lived in Denver from 1957 until recently. She was a member of Gray Ladies Auxiliaryand United States Army Officers: Wives. She is survived by her husband, Col. Robert L. Trout. DONALD E. BECKWITH, 33, Clearfield, died March 13 of multiple sclerosis. He had been an automobile mechanic and had lived DENNIS L. THORNTON, 31, Washington Terrace, died Feb. 16, 1978 of cancer. He was a conductor and brakeman for the Union Pacific Railroad. He graduated from Weber High School and attended WSC. Surviving are his widow, the former Madaline C. He earned a bachelor degree from WSC and a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee. For the past six years Dr. Wirth has been a teaching assistant in political science for the University of Tennessee. REFUGIO A. (Ralph) SAUSEDO recently returned from five years in Iran where he worked with the Iranian government on computers for Systems Engineering Labs out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. His wife, the former Ruby Ione Diaz and three sons, accompanied him. Mr. Sausedo has been appointed as manager for Utah District of System Engineering Labs in Roy, Utah. He is a ’68 B.S. graduate from WSC in Electrical Engineering Technology. RAYMOND D. MORRIS and ORLAND E. NICKERSON have been chosen as two new ethnic program coordinators at Hill AFB. Mr. Morris, Ogden, is the Native American Program Coordinator and Mr. Nickerson has been named as the Spanish speaking Program Coordinator. Mr. Morris is currently an elecirunics repairman at Hill AFB and has been active in equal employment opportunity affairs. He has an A.A. degree from the National Electronics Institute in Denver, Colo. and is currently attending WSC. Mr. Nickerson has been in the data automation field and has been a technician, computer operator and programmer. He has attended WSC. GARY M. RIGBY has been promoted to assistant vice president in the cashier’s office of the Walker Bank and Trust Company, Salt Lake City. He joined Walker Bank in 1972 following graduation from WSC. He was a part-time teller in the Ogden office and in 1973 became an operations trainee, moving to the cashier’s office in 1978. LUCILLE ALBRETHSEN and DARREL LARSEN have received promotions at First Security Bank. Mrs. Albrethsen has been appointed Mortgage Loan Officer. She attended WSC and Stevens Henager College. Mrs. Larsen was promoted to BankCard Supervisor, Salt Lake Division and is a graduate of WSC. DR. KENT VAN DE GRAAFF, Orem, an assistant professor of zoology at BYU, was named as professor of the month by the campus chapter of Blue Key National Honorary Fraternity. Dr. Van De Graaff joined the BYU faculty in 1975 after spending two years at the University of Minnesota. He graduated from Ogden High, Weber College and North Western University Dental School in Chicago, Ill. He served five years on the Utah State Board of Dental Examiners and was a member of the Utah State Dental Society and the Ogden Dental Seminar, serving in various positions in both organizations. He was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Navy.
