He is a 1969 WSC graduate with a degree in political science and received a master of arts degree from Webester College in public administration. His wife is the former Nancy Hart, who also attended Weber State and they have two daughters. i One student said, ‘“You can’t fake it!” A student either knows and can do an objective or he can’t. They are happy to tell other students ‘‘what’s in a WILKIT” and there is a high degree of healthy cooperation and helping when the competition for grades is eliminated. The program rewards competence rather than “‘busy work.”’ Instruction is relating to skills teachers use. “The faculty finds it is more ‘humanizing’ to tell a student what he needs to learn rather than “keeping it a secret,’’ said Dr. Parkinson, ‘‘and they become resource people which gives a new dimension in human relationships.” By the time a student majoring in elementary education is ready for student teaching he or she has had 66 hours in the public schools. Teachers in the schools who have WSC student teachers comment on their ability to handle classes and their adaptability to various situations. They are independent and flexible — all considered great teacher characteristics. a a - ee sibility for their own education. “They have become selfstarters. BURTON, a Roy native, has been named assistant vice president and manager of the credit department at the State National Bank of El Paso, Tex. A graduate of Weber State College, he joined the bank last August as a commercial loan officer and formerly was an officer for a Los Angeles, Calif. bank. STEVEN E. BAGLEY, has graduated from the Washington University School of Denta; Medicine at St. Louis, Mo. He received his doctor of dental medicine. Dr. Bagley was an Ogden High School graduate and attended Weber State College. His wife is the former Ruth Ann James. They are living in Greeley, Colo., where he has established his dental practice. FRAN WIKSTROM has started a law practice in Ogden. He graduated from Yale University School of Law with a juris doctorate degree in 1974. While at Yale University Law School, he was chairman of the board of directors of the Yale Barrister’s Union, named finalist in the annual John Fletcher Caskey Prize Trial and chairmnan of the Legal Assistance Project. A graduate of Weber State College, he was studentbody president in 1970-71. GERALD R. GREEN, and BS degrees from Weber who holds AAS in chemical State College engineering and the University of Utah, has been appointed supervisor in the manufacturing technology division. of the _ film manufacturing organization at Kodak Park, Rochester, N.Y. He became associated with the company in 1963 as a development engineer and has been a maintenance engineer, assistant department head and senior development engineer. |
