His coaching experience includes a year at California’s Alhambra High School, a season at Orange Coast College where his defenders allowed just 55 yards per game, and two years at Utah State University where his primary duty was also with the defensive secondary. During his seasons at Utah State, Ackerman’s charges were nationally ranked in pass interceptions as well as placing several individual among the national interception leaders. While at Logan, he also gained valuable experience as coordinator of film scouting exchanges and as a recruiter in the Southern California area. He was also the academic advisor to the Utah State football players. Scott Ackerman Defensive Secondary Coach hired Scott Ackerman, a twenty-nine year old former assistant at Utah State, has been hired as defensive coach at Weber State College, and for two seasons, 1966 and 1969, starred on the Southern Utah State College squad.
