(left) and former athletic Ceremony Honors Five For Special Service Five prominent members or former members of the Ogden area community were honored by the Weber State College Alumni Association for their contributions to the college and community during homecoming celebrations in November. Mrs. Clarisse Hall, W. Rulon White and W. Wesley Anderson were presented distinguished service awards, while Merlon L. Stevenson and August L. Ahlf received distinguished alumni awards. Mrs. Hall served as registrar at Weber State from 1926 until 1962 when she retired with the title of associate professor of business. She also has been writing historical accounts of the college. since her retirement. Mr. White was a Utah legislator department and coaching football, basketball and other sports. Under his coaching, Weber won eight straight football titles, and his 1926 squad piled up 234 points while holding opponents to 24. He retired in 1964 as professor Emeritus of the division of math. Mr. Ahif, who graduated from Weber in the early 1930’-, worked for many years in Honolulu and other parts of the Pacific as consulting engineer for major construction projects. All award recipients with the exception of Mr. White and Mr. Ahlf accepted their plaques during ceremonies at the annual alumni banquet. Mr. White’s son Robert, accepted his father’s award in his behalf, while Mr. Stevenson accepted the award for Mr. Ahlf. from Weber County, he served as Ogden mayor during the city commission from of government and served as acting city manager during the transition to the city council-manager form. He operates a fruit orchard in Utah and is owner of the W. R. White Pipe Co. in Ogden. The seats are “‘selling’”’ for $200 each and entitle the donor to occupy his seat for all season basketball games as long as he holds a season basketball ticket. It also gives him priority in ticket sales for other events in the center. The center will have 12,000 seats, with those offered in the Center seat sale located in a preferred area, from the playing floor to the 19th row. Goal of the “‘sale”’ is to raise $650,000 toward the cost of construction of the center. Mr. and Mrs. Donnell Stewart have agreed to match the amount raised by the college. Priority was given to members of the alumni during the period from Dec. 17 to 29. This group included those former students who are not members of the Century Club, special donors, Wildcat Club, or who not community. CLARISSE HALL W. He served for many years as chairman of the Greater Ogden Chamber of Commerce Weber College committee which aided the college in many projects from junior college days through creation of the four-year program. Mr. Stevenson had served on the Weber faculty since 1921, serving as head of the math do currently hold season tickets. Tickets have been on sale to the general public since Jan.2. Privileges for chair purchasers carry over to the buyer’s heirs. All seat buyers will have their names displayed on a plaque in the center.
