Show Page 2 COMMENT June 19 Two honored by WSC Traditionally students at Weber State College have graduated with Baccalaureate and Commencement exercises. He became vice president and elected president in 1964 and chairman of the board and chid executive officer in 1970. He retired in 1977 and resides in Ogden. Dr. Ritchey was educated at Pur due and Cornell universities, receiving a doctorate chemistry in 1938. in physical Prior to that time Mr. Croft taught biology and forestry at Weber State College from 1925 to 1933 and was a researcher in forest ds, Dr. Ritchey holds an honorary U.S. doctorate degree of engineering from Purdue, and an honorary doe- hydrology from 1934 to 1950 for the Forest Service. He com- pleted his career as a professor of watershed management at the University of Arizona from 1964 to 1967. Mr. Croft is the author of about 50 publications in watershed management and forest hydrology. President of the WSC Alumni -Touring the campus was part of activities for two hundred members of the classes of ‘31 , ‘32, and ‘33, who came from many states for the annual Alumni Emeritus Banquet class reunion. Charles E. (Chuck) Peterson was keynote speaker and certificates were presented to Alumni present. Ritchey, as chief executive officer, guided Thiokol Corporation’s rocket programs from obscure beginnings to its precent position as the nationad eading producer of solid President Rodney H. He is a member of the Purdue Research Foun dation and has membership it many professional societies. In 1954 Dr. Ritchey received the C.N. Hickman Award of the American Rocket Society for out standing contributions to the field of solid-propellant rocketry, and served as president of this society in 1961. He has contributed to numerous publications.
