The Mountain West Conference begins its first season of operation with championships being decided in be ber seven sports: basketball, cross country, gymnastics, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and field and volleyball. VOLLEYBALL-NEW COACH NEW CONFERENCE NEW ERA The Lady Wildcat volleyball team opened league play at home on October 1 and 2 with matches against Boise State and Portland State after a month of pre-season competition. During the pre-season, Weber State won the Valley of the Sun Tournament at Scottsdale, Arizona, and finished fifth out of 28 teams in the California-Davis Western Invitational Tournament which included many nationally ranked teams. Ted Compoc will lead the Lady Wildcats In volleyball The outlook for Weber State's 1982 volleyball season is uncertain yet favorable. The Lady Wildcats are now under the tutelage of new head coach TED COMPOC. A native of Kahuku, Oahu, Hawaii, Compoc comes to Weber State after leading his Scottsdale Community College team to the 1981 NJCAA Championship and being named NJCAA Coach-of the-Year last season. The primary goal of the volleyball program at Weber State is to be competitive within the conference, ultimately winning the league title and attaining national recognition. According to Coach Compoc, this goal is attainable within two years. The following is a schedule of Lady Wildcat home volleyball matches held at Wildcat Gym. Admission is $3.00 for adults and $1.50 for high school students and younger. WSC faculty, staff and students are admitted free with I.D.
