The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Saturday, November 24, 1934. San Francisco. We stayed in town at Clift over nite. At 12 oclock noon we all went down to the wharf to see Thair and family off for Penns via of Pannama canal. They were very happy anticipating such a fine trip on the water Taylor and Mary, Dr Cleone Myrene & I were there to see them off. Richard & Ruth were thrilled when the band played and good bys were said. Myrene and her father had a dance when the band played which caused laughter and broke the seriousness of the occasion. Taylor & Mary took us all down where the fisherman came in and we had a nice fish cook said good by to them & were on our way to Los Angeles by three PM. Sunday, November 25, 1934. We enjoyed seeing the Old Mission San Carlos Borromeo Del Rio Carmelo founded in 1770. This is where Father Serra is buried. Last night we stayed at Vera Cruz. We had such a nice lunch at carmel & enjoyed the 17 mi drive by the ocean. A delightful afternoon yesterday. Also visited the big trees. Today we visited Santa Barbara Mission which is well preserved and has many valuable relics. We visited one other old mission at San Luiz Obispo and stayed over night at Santa Mario Cal. Beautiful flowers every where a real day of pleasure. |
