Show Planning Commission The Planning Commission normally holds their meetings monthly, and the work they accomplish is very important for our present and future. Some important actions of 2010 included the following. A Public Hearing was held on January 19, 2010, by the Planning Commission. Public comment, in support of or opposition to, the ratification and adoption of the Official Zoning Map of Marriott-Slaterville City, Utah was invited. The map was prepared by Jones and Associates Consulting Engineers dated January 2010. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the Official Zoning Map. At their monthly meeting, the Planning Commission approved the Mill Creek Animal Hospital at 250 North 2000 West, Mill Creek Plaza. The Hobby Show Kennel at 1811 North 400 West was approved, as well as the expansion of the rock crushing operation at 1900 West 1351 South. The Planning Commission Meeting on July 20, 2010, included a public hearing on the adoption of the Marriott-Slaterville-Weber County Cooperative Pathways Master Plan as an Element of the General Plan. Approval was recommended to the City Council. A minor lot subdivision for one residential lot on 810 West 1700 South requested by Cory Combe was approved as well. Awards Mayor Keith Butler, performing a favorite duty and opportunity, at the December 16, 2010, City Council meeting, presented annual community awards as follows: Good Neighbor Award: Les Olson Company Merlene Gilbert Kent and Carolyn Robinson Shirley Hurlburt Michael Stevenson Elna Lucas Community History: Jay Butler and Cultural Award Lynette Deru H. Orvil Holley Youth Leadership Award: Hannah Brandley Darrell Mecham Outstanding Community : DeAnn Hufstetler Service Award Carolyn Deru Roads Did UDOT lie to us? Or were we just mis-informed? In December 2009, residents rejoiced in the UDOT announcement in the Standard Examinerthat construction work on 12*i Street was over! Long months of lane changes, one lane traffic, flagmen and delays, had been an endurance test for those who must use this major street. UDOT also said that except of landscaping it wouldn't touch 12*i Street for forty years. We found that this was not reality. Starting Monday, February 22, 2010, 1200 South was under construction for the final items. There has been landscaping, curb and gutter, sidewalks, road entrances to business, medians, manhole work, shaving down bumps, and cement replacement. Twelfth Street and Wall Avenue, for a time was a mass of cones, and a real traffic mess. As of December 31, 2010, there are still construction signs and some orange barrels on this street. When will it really end? Can we hope that this will not be the case for 39 more years? Roads and their maintenance within our community are always a major concern to the Administration and City Council.
