Show August 17, 2010 MtWiWLWiem Seven to compete for title of Hooper Tomato Days Rodeo Queen HOOPER — Seven young women will compete beginning tonight for the title of Hooper Tomato Days Rodeo Queen, who will preside over the city's Labor Day celebration. The contest begins at 7 p.m. at the Timbermine Restaurant, where judges will assess contestants' personality and appearance, speech and reaction to impromptu questions. Janeal Cox, Hooper resident and owner of Dance Image, will receive the "Spirit of the Community" award during the dinner event. The horsemanship portion of the contest is free and open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hooper Arena, 5500 S. 6300 West. Departing queen Karianne Berry, of Garland, will step down as a new Miss Rodeo Hooper is announced. Contestants are: Dianna Droll- ette, daughter of Bob and Lavern Drollette, of Benson; Lacey Ann Drollette Godfrey King Bk *. j*SP* kw | Lewis Lowe Maughan Godfrey, daughter of Sid and Chris Godfrey, of Benjamin; Tif- fanie King, daughter of Nick and Dana Cazier, of Slaterville; Elisa Lewis, daughter of Kelly Brent and Jeanne Lewis, of Mantua; Shianne Lowe, daughter of Davey and Lynda Lowe, of West Haven; Makenzie Maughan, daughter of Roy and Mindy Maughan, of Hooper; Jamie Udell, daughter of Jim and Beverly Udell, of Pine Valley. Udell Happy 80th Birthday September 19, 2010 Murray Murray Donna Faye Ander- ton Murray of Marriott-Slaterville will be honored for her 80th birthday. A family birthday dinner will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Maddox Lodge. She has requested not to have a party. If ever in the area, interested parties may drop by to visit her. No gifts. She was born on Sept. 22, 1930, in Henefer to John and Cheltina Anderton. She married Quin Murray on Sept. 1, 1948, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. He is deceased. She was Relief Society president for a number of years and Primary president. She was also PTA president at Wilson Elementary School. She worked at the Ogden Family History Center for 15 years. Her interests have included camping, cooking, playing cards, Word Finds and especially family. She was employed by the Internal Revenue Service and Cutter Lab. Her children and their spouses are Boyd and Josephine Fisher, John and Nancy Murray, Robert and Teresa Murray, Bart and Penny Murray, Chris and Yvonne Campbell, and Brian and Laura Arnold. She has 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A grandson, Mat Fisher, is deceased. 201 |
