January 31, 2010 LOUNGE CHAIR SNOWMAN A chillin' friend joined Sandra and Kelly Dyer of Marriott- Slaterville on their Christmas card this year. The shade- wearing dude was crafted in January 2009; this year, Sandra says they hope to build a snow deer and she and her husband will dress like hunters. Christmas 2009 Mrs. Watson began teaching career in Slaterville, and taught several of our older residents. Watson Helena Brown Watson of Farr West celebrated her 95th birthday at a family party on Saturday, Jan. 30, at her home in Farr West. She was born on Jan. 30, 1915, in Farr West to Jethro Daniels Brown and Emma Lee. She married Odell J. Watson on May 24, 1939, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints St. George Temple. She spent her childhood as the youngest of seven children. She was only 19 when she began teaching in Slaterville after attending Brigham Young University. She served an LDS mission in New York. She spent her married life with Odell J. Watson in Kanab, where she was active in civic and church work. Odell died of leukemia; they were married for 21 years. She eventually returned to Watson Ogden, taught school and became the first woman principal in Weber County. She retired from the education faculty of Weber State College after 15 years. She ^^^^^^^^^ now resides on the corner of Farr West Drive, where four generations of her family have lived. Her children and their spouses are Jacquita and Harold Christensen, Tonya Watson, Lee Dell Watson and Art Duff, Talana and Lorell Fawson, Jethro and Nancie Watson, John and Sherrie Watson, and Emma Jane Watson and Gus Kostopu- los. She has 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 186
