Show The Pioneer Post Volume XII Issue 7 Marriott-Slaterville City Newsletter July 2010 1570 West 400 North - Phone 801 -627-1919 MAYOR'/ MET/AGE Keith H. Butler, Mayor Our wet spring is now turning into another hot summer. With summer comes more road projects. 400 North is now under construction and heavy delays are expected for the construction period. Construction is anticipated to be complete in approximately 100 days. Construction at Marriott Park is finally complete for this year with the new playground and pressurized irrigation system. Also, the new City Hall Park was dedicated this spring. Marriott Park and Slaterville Park have bowery and kitchen facilities. City Hall Park has bowery facilities and municipal gardens. The cost to rent a park is $25 for a half day block. Park rules and regulations apply. Congratulations for all our park volunteers who helped us receive our recognition as a Tree City USA for our fifth year, and also receive the Growth Award for our municipal gardens and river corridor preservation efforts. On July 1st, the city started its new budget year. State and local governments are struggling with the ongoing economic downturn. Fortunately, Marriott-Slaterville City is still prospering. The City Council recently approved the 2010-2011 budget without any municipal property tax being imposed. We have worked hard to keep our budget balanced. Central Weber Sewer Improvement District has increased rates for sewer treatment. Also, the city has increased the building rental rate to $75 for residents for most activities to help cover building maintenance costs. Non-resident rental rates are typically double. Garbage rates will remain unchanged. I enjoy the friendship and sense of community we share in Marriott-Slaterville City. Thank you to all our volunteers who help make ths community a great place to live.
