Show Happy Birthday, Mayor Keith Butler June 26, 2010 Butler Butler Keith H. Butler will celebrate his 80th birthday with an open house from 3 to 6 p.m. June 26 at Marriott- Slaterville City Hall, 1570 W. 400 North. The first of eight children born to Carl and Bernice Butler in Marriott, he was born on June 26, 1930. He graduated from Weber High School in 1948 and was athletic manager for four major sports. He was honored to be part of the 1948 state basketball champs. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in Korea. On April 27,1957, he married Jerri Clark. He has one daughter: Kari and Rick Blickfeldt. He also has two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. He graduated from Weber State College in 1961 and retired from Hill Air Force Base after more than 42 years. He traveled to 25 foreign countries and almost every state while involved in life-saving support systems and accident investigation. He helped form and served as a member on a Slaterville community advisory planning committee. In 1997, it became a township, and he became a committee member to combine with Marriott as a city. In 1999, Marriott-Slaterville was incorporated, and he was elected mayor. He has been the only mayor and was re-elected to another four-year term. He claims he is proud of the city. He has also been a plant manager for Scot Inc., served as board member on the Weber Fire District and serves on boards for Bona Vista Water, Central Weber Sewer and Weber Area Council of Governments. He enjoys making calls to friends and relatives, playing cards, going to the gym, and being with family and friends. 51 |
