Show - Marriott-Slaterville History July 2010 There were hamburgers, hot dogs, side dishes, and pop for hungry celebrants, dispensed by the city council and helpers from the Sheriff's Department. A candy cannon, giant slide and the new playground equipment entertained the younger people. Will Holley served as master of ceremony during the afternoon activities. A cake walk interested young and not so young. Instead of a pie eating contest this year, Shauna Meyerhoffer provided other ways for participants to show their "gobbling down" prowess. For one type contest, she provided bags of food which contestants could munch, chomp and swallow to see who downed the contests the quickest. Great prizes were won by those who bought lottery tickets. No City Council Meeting was held in July, as there was no business which needed to be considered. The Planning Commission Meeting was held on July 20, 2010. There was a public hearing held on the adoption of the Marriott-Slaterville-Weber County Cooperative Pathways Master Plan as an Element of the General Plan. After the hearing and discussion the Planning Commission recommended for approval by the City Council. A minor lot subdivision for one residential lot on 810 West 1700 South requested by Cory Combe was approved as well. The Senior Health Connection Newsletter given at the Senior Center in July concerned the importance of Advanced Directives, legal documents that let you plan your future medical care, if you can't speak for yourself. They include a Living Will, a Special Power of Attorney, and a Medical Treatment Plan. Bits and Pieces Clarence Kranendonk, Sr., passed away on July 22, 2010, at the age of 74. 143 |
