Show Marriott Slaterville History December 2010 Darrell Mecham Outstanding Community DeAnn Hufstetler Service Award Carolyn Deru Following the council meeting, the annual City Christmas Party was held for council members, planning commission members, volunteers and staff, at the Senior Center. A choice of turkey steak, country fried steak, fried chicken or ground beef, along with baked potato, salad and rolls was served. Dessert featured a choice of decorated brownies and cakes. Becky Burt, with some help from Trent Meyerhoffer and Ken Martin, was responsible for a fun evening. An article in the Standard Examiner on December 27,2010, forecast a population explosion in Weber and Davis Counties in the next 30 years. They anticipated that Marriott-Slaterville City would more than double in population to an estimated 5,021 residents in 2040. Bits and Pieces Kialynn Allen, daughter of Jason and Shanna Allen, was born on December 10, 2010. J. C. Oram was one of three Weber State University football players who earned FCS honors. As an offensive guard, he was named second-team Ail-American by The Sports Network, and third-team by Phil Steele's College Football Magazine. The Standard Examiner described him as a 6-4, 305 pound "rock for the Wildcats...where he has started in 36 straight games." Drew Holley was one of the nominated candidates for "Mr. Wahlquist," at Wahlquist Junior High School. 156 |
