Show The Pioneer Post Volume XII Issue 5 Marriott-Slaterville City Newsletter May 2010 Budget Update The city is in the process of preparing its annual budget. The recession continues to take its toll on state and local governments across the county. Fortunately, Marriott- Slaterville City is still holding its own and will continue without any municipal property taxes. However, Central Weber Sewer District is raising its sewer fees on July 1, 2010, to $15.80 per residential unit. Direct your questions on this sewer fee increase to Central Weber Sewer District at 801 -731-3011. The city is not raising garbage rates during this budget cycle, but will watch fuel prices as fuel may increase later this year and require action. Building rental rates have risen for the senior center, but the cleaning deposit requirement is now eliminated for most private activities. Park rental rates remain unchanged. PLANNING COMMISSION TUESDAY, MAY 18,2010 - 7:00 P.M. 1. Call to Order/Minutes. 2. Ordinance amending regulations for Landscaping, Architecture, and Screening. 3. Ordinance amending Forestry and Gardening. 4. Ordinance amending the A-1 Zone to allow for recreational uses, outfitting, sporting goods, and motor vehicles/RV sales near the Central Business District Overlay (includes a portion of 17th Street). 5. Updates and follow-up for ongoing projects. 6. Adjourn until June 15, 2010. This agenda is tentative. Items can and will change. CITY COUNCIL MEETING THURSDAY, MAY 20,2010 - 6:30 P.M. 1. Call to Order/Minutes/Business licenses. 2. Tentative FY 2010-11 budget for Pioneer Special District and set public hearing for June 17, 2010. 3. Amended FY 2009-10 budget and set public hearing on June 17, 2010. 4. Tentative FY 2010-11 budget and set public hearing for June 17, 2010. 5. Fourth of July Celebration. 6. Officer reports and legislative oversight. 7. Adjourn until June 17, 2010. This agenda is tentative. Items can and will change. Local Updates • Utah Renaissance Festival & Fantasy Faire. Come enjoy renaissance diversions May 7-9 & 14-16 at 3105 W. Pioneer Road. Jousting, food, shops, and entertainment. $12 for Adults, $6 for Children ages 6-11. www.utahrenfest.com • 400 North Construction. UDOT recently awarded the contract to Staker & Parsons to reconstruct 400 North. Start date is hopefully around June 1st. • Gas Line Projects. Questar is finishing its gas line replacement on 1200 West. • City Council. An Agriculture Protection Area at 3175 W. Pioneer Road is approved. The celebration for Arbor Day this year dedicated the Park at City Hall. • Planning Commission. Mill Creek Animal Hospital at 250 North 2000 West Mill Creek Plaza is approved. Hobby Show Kennel located at 1811 North 400 West is approved. The rock crushing operation at 1900 West 1351 South is approved to expand. • Marriott Park. The city plans to install pressurized irrigation to Marriott Park and complete the playground. • Venture Academy's 5K Scholarships. You are invited on May 22nd from 7:30- 10 AM to join Venture Academy for its 5K Run/Walk Event through Marriott- Slaterville ending at Slaterville Park. Marriott-Slaterville participant will receive 20% discount on entry fees. (Discount: Individual $12, Families $20). All proceeds from this event support the Venture Academy Adventure Program Scholarship Fund.
