Show - Marriott-Slaterville History March 2010 There is a 180 day termination clause in the agreement should a change be desired later. Resolution 2010-C entering Interlocal Agreement with Washington Terrace City for a consolidated Justice Court was adopted by the council unanimously. A bid for the extension of a secondary water line along 1200 West from Quail Meadows Subdivision to the Marriott Park has been issued. The bids will be opened March 23, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. Mr. Morris asked the council to allot the funds of approximately $30,000.00 necessary to complete the project. Once the line is place, Dave Combe will install a pressurized sprinkler system at the park. A 6" line is being placed, so that it will be able to supply the whole block, which will include the IRS Annex and the Hoth Apartments. The larger line is being installed before the road is paved, so that the road will not have to be torn up to put in a bigger line later. Mr. Slater asked if the park had sufficient water shares. Mr. Morris said they had a lot of water at the Marriott Park. It will be stored in a basin and pumped out. The council suggested that there be a stub put in now for both the IRS Annex and Mr. Hoth, so the road will not need to be excavated for a future connection. The allotment of funds necessary for the extension of the secondary water line along 1200 West from Quail Meadows Subdivision to Marriott Park was approved unanimously by the council. Mr. Morris announced that the annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 10:00 a.m., April 3, 2010, at the Slaterville Park, for children ages 1-8. The Les Olsen Company donated $250.00, and Operation Happy Kids will help fill plastic eggs for the hunt. Mayor Keith Butler recognized Trent Meyerhoffer for his obtaining his Storm Water Inspector Certificate from the State of Utah. He also informed the council that the sewer rate is going up $1.50 per month instead of $3.80, because of his negotiation with the sewer district. The new rate will be $15.80 per month. Bona Vista Water is doing a study on water rates to see if an increase is needed to keep up with the demands. President Dennis Ilium asked if Bona Vista is recouping costs from contractors taking water from fire hydrants, and how it is measured. Mayor Butler indicated that Bona Vista provides meters to attach to the hydrants to insure proper payment. President Ilium thinks some contractors are taking advantage of Bona Vista. Mayor Butler will follow up on the matter with Bona Vista. Mr. Slater said his daughter reports that her children who are involved with sports have to go to other cities. He would like the city to look into the possibility of sponsoring some recreation programs. Councilman Rob Smout said West Haven had a loss on their recreation program last year. Mayor Butler said the flooding irrigation of the parks creates a water problem for scheduling games. Mr. Slater is concerned about the storm water ponds on 12*1 Street and 1-15 that are not draining properly and would like UDOT contacted about the problem. Councilman Delbert Hodson said that there should be a pipe to drain the ponds. Mr. Morris has asked UDOT if the city can use the city inmate crew to clean up the ponds, but UDOT requires a permit. Mr. Hodson is concerned that the stop light at 12*1 Street and 1200 West is only green for a very short period. He would like the city to request a longer green period so that residents can safely cross the road. 132 |
