Show YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FLU IN 2009 SEASONAL FLU You should receive this vaccine if you are: • Age 6 months to 18 years • Over age 50 • Planning on getting pregnant • A person with a long ierm health problem • Living with a weakened immune system • A nursing home resident • Living with or caring for people with high risk influenza-related complications • A Health Care Worker • Hoping to reduce the likelihood of becoming ill with influenza The cost is $20 per shot. We can bill Medicare, Medicaid and Medicaid HMO's, Select Health, PEHP, University of Utah & Molina. Weber-Morgan Health Department will offer seasonal flu shots beginning September 1, 2009. Studies are showing that the seasonal flu vaccine provides protection for 12 months. Walk-in Flu Clink Hours: Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. H1N1 FLU (Swine) Current studies indicate that younger age groups and pregnant women have a higher risk for infection and complications and should be given top priority to receive the HI Nl (Swine) flu vaccine. You should receive this vaccine if you are: • Pregnant • A household contact or caregiver of children younger than 6 months • If you are age 6 months to 24 years • A Health Care or Emergency Response Worker • Age 25-64 years with a health condition such as lung disease, heart disease, diabetes or if your physician states you are at high risk Once the demand for these groups has been met, everyone from age 25 - 64 years should be vaccinated. The HI Nl vaccine will be offered to the general population once the higher- risk groups have been immunized. Weber Morgan Health Department anticipates this vaccine will be available in October. Please check our web site at www.webermorganhealth.org FOR YOUR GOOD HEALTH IT IS ALSO ADVISED THAT YOU: • Wash hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds several times a day, especially after sneezing and coughing • Avoid large crowds or social gatherings during an outbreak • Cover your mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, throw it away after use.
