OCR Text	Show 7. TURESOME, AND CONTENT TO COAST ALONG WHILE COMPETITORS ASSUMED THE LEADERSHIP MANTLE ONCE WORN BY UTAH. LIQUIDATION OF THE COMPANY WAS SERIOUSLY CONSIDERED IN SOME QUARTERS IN THE 1940's. THE STOCKHOLDER DIFFERENCES WERE SETTLED IN THE LATE 40'S. PUT IN PLACE WAS A YOUNGER MANAGEMENT THAT WAS EAGER TO DO DIFFERENT THINGS AND TO DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY. I WAS BROUGHT ABOARD IN 1951 AS PART OF THE MANAGEMENT REBUILDING PROCESS. EVEN THEN THE COMPANY WAS STILL LARGELY ENGAGED IN HEAVY ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION BUT IT HAD BEGUN TO EXPLORE OTHER WAYS TO MAKE MONEY. THE OWNERSHIP WAS STILL CONCENTRATED IN FIVE UTAH FAMILIES DESCENDED FROM THE FOUNDERS. THE STOCK WAS QUOTED IN THE OVER-THE-COUNTER MARKET IN SALT LAKE CITY BUT RARELY TRADED EVEN AT A FRACTION OF BOOK VALUE. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS WERE CHOSEN FROM THESE FAMILIES, AND SO WERE THREE OF THE FOUR MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. BUT MORMON FAMILIES RUN TO SIZE AND IT
