I HAVE HAD PUT AT YOUR PLACES THREE SIMPLE CHARTS OF TWO COMPANIES HEADQUARTERED IN THIS AREA. YOU WILL NOTE THAT EACH COMPANY HAS EARNINGS THAT HAVE GROWN IMPRESSIVELY AND ARE CLOSE BOTH IN ABSOLUTE AMOUNTS AND IN THE RATE OF GROWTH. THE SECOND CHART SHOWS THAT THE TWO COMPANIES ALSO HAD NET WORTH FIGURES OVER THE YEARS IN THE SAME NEIGHBORHOOD. THE THIRD CHART SHOWS THAT EACH COMPANY HAD A MARKET VALUE WELL IN EXCESS OF BOOK BUT EVEN THOUGH FOR MUCH OF THIS PERIOD COMPANY A's EARNINGS WERE LARGER AND EVEN MORE STABLE THAN COMPANY B's, COMPANY B ALWAYS HAD A GREATER MARKET VALUE.
