OCR Text	Show 8. BECAME OBVIOUS THAT A MARKET HAD TO BE CREATED FOR THE COMPANY SHARES WHEREIN THEIR VALUE COULD BE REALIZED BY THOSE WHO DESIRED TO SELL OR WHERE DEATH FORCED SALES. IT ALSO SEEMED LIKE A GOOD IDEA WHILE WE WERE AT IT TO INCREASE THE VALUE OF THE SHARES AND THIS CALLED FOR SOME CHANGES IN WHAT WE DID AND HOW WE DID IT. WE TRANSFORMED A COMPANY THAT AS LATE AS 1956 STILL DERIVED OVER 75% OF ITS REVENUES FROM CONTRACT CONSTRUCTION INTO A VASTLY DIFFERENT BUSINESS. THE HEAVY CONSTRUCTION ASSETS WERE SOLD IN 1969 AND THE DREDGES IN 1971. TODAY THE PRINCIPAL ACTIVITY OF THE COMPANY IS MINING. IT PRODUCES COKING COAL AND IRON ORE FOR THE STEEL INDUSTRY; URANIUM, STEAM COAL, OIL AND NATURAL GAS FOR THE ENERGY CONSUMING INDUSTRIES; AND COPPER CONCENTRATES FOR GENERAL INDUSTRIAL USE. WE DERIVE SOME CONSIDERABLE INCOME FROM BY-PRODUCTS OF COPPER MINING SUCH AS GOLD, SILVER, MOLYBDENUM, AND RHENIUM, A METAL USED IN THE PRODUCTION OF UNLEADED GASOLINE. OCEAN SHIPPING, PRINCIPALLY
