EARLIER TODAY I TOLD YOU THAT SRI ENCOURAGED YOUR SUGGESTIONS AND I AM PREPARED TONIGHT TO PROVE THAT THESE DO NOT GO UNHEEDED, FROM THE BEGINNING OF THESE COUNCIL MEETINGS IT HAS BEEN THE UNVARYING PRACTICE TO HAVE THE SRI DIRECTORS INTRODUCE THE VARIOUS MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL AND THEIR SPOUSES SEATED AT THEIR RESPECTIVE TABLES. COMMENTS LAST YEAR FROM COUNCIL MEMBERS SUG- GESTED THAT THIS PROCEDURE WAS FLAWED IN SEVERAL PARTICULARS. FIRST, WHILE THE COUNCIL MEMBERS DO NOT NECESSARILY CONSIDER THEIR NAMES HOUSEHOLD WORDS, SOME OF THE MORE DILIGENT ATTENDERS HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED EVERY YEAR FOR FIVE OR MORE YEARS. THIS SEEMED A LITTLE REDUNDANT IN A GROUP THAT GRASPS THINGS QUICKLY - A CASE OF OVERKILL. SECOND, IF THE DRILL WAS NOT REALLY PRODUCTIVE, IT WAS UNQUESTIONABLY TIME-CONSUMING. |
