The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

FIRST AID—Charles Paull, Red Cross Safety Service director, supervises ROTC group at East High School in applying a traction splint to Lt. Richard Griffith, "vic¬tim." A course in Red Cross First Aid is a required subject for all ROTC members. Helping are, left to right, Captain George Dibble, Pvt. Jim Rogers, Sgt. Herbert Goldhardt and Charles Paull, instructor. 16B THE OGDEN (UTAH) STANDARD-EXAMINER FRIDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 24, 1950 By official proclamation today Mayor W. Rulon White designated the period March 1 to 31 as Ameri¬can Red Cross campaign month for Ogden city. He called upon the citizenry to "maintain their notable record of support in the coming appeal for funds." The proclamation follows: "The American Red Cross during the past year has contributed to the nation's welfare, and the public constantly calls upon" the Ameri- can Red Cross in time of disas¬ter every day hundreds of service¬men and veterans turn to their Cross for counsel and aid. "Our standards of public health are improved by providing free training coursed in home nursing, first aid, water safety and acci¬dent prevention. "There must be no curtailment of these essential services in the year ahead. To carry on its splen¬did work, the Red Cross will need a minimum of $65,000,000 in vol¬untary contributions throughout the nation." |
