The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

RIRIE UTAH POWER & LIGHT OGDEN, UTAH JOURNAL LAYTON, DAVIS COUNTY, UTAH 10c News and Features of Interest to Residents of Davis County A Message from Stuart Symington Chairman, National Security Resources Board Unprecedented mobilization tasks face America today. Unless they are done quickly and well, we could lose a war tomorrow. One is mobilizing our material resources, and for help with this tremendous job we look to American industry. Another is mobilizing our human resources. A large share of this great effort is assigned to the Red Cross. For who but the Red Cross could undertake to train 20,000,000 first-aiders to meet a sudden national emergency? Who but the Red Cross is equipped to coordinate a vast national blood program and direct nationwide recruiting, collecting, storing and preparation of blood for shipment? Mews and Features of Interest to Residents of Davis County. Who but the Red Cross could prepare many thousands of women and girls for voluntary home nursing and nurse’s aide work? All these things the National Security Resources Board has already asked—and the Red Cross has agreed to undertake them—with your help. They’ll be done with that spirit of willing self- sacrifice so typical of the volunteers who make up our Red Cross. They'll be done because, when you are asked to help, you won't refuse! So when your neighbor calls for your 1951 Red Cross contribution...open your door...and open your heart! |
