The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

The size of Bozeman is about 12,000. It is the home of the Montana State Agricultural College. Around Boze-man is known as the Gallatin Valley. It has very fertile soils and is a good farming district. The name of the county in which I live is Gallatin. The name of the school I go to is Gallatin County High School. Some of the organizations for childred are as follows: Camp Fire Girls, Bluebirds, 4-H, Girl Scouts, Brownies, Boy Scouts, and Builders. These are all clubs to teach children to cooperate, plan, and work to become good Amer¬ican citizens. The Optimists Club is and older persons Club which does many things for the children. Here in Bozeman there are also three parks where you may go to skate, play tennis, volley ball, and many other exercising games. There is a city swiming pool which also provides good entertainment. The schools also have many other activities and clubs for the younger people. We have five other schools here in Bozeman. They are Longfellow, Emerson, Irving, Hawthorne and Rosary which is a Catholic School. Some of Gallatin Vallies products are winter and spring wheat, barley and oats. We raise very good beef cattle such as Herefords, Shorthorns , and Angus. Hylite and Gallatin Canyons are noted for their beauty in both summer and winter. Wild life is a wonderful sport. Some of these animals are Elk, Moose, Bear, Deer, and Ant¬elope. We have an open season and these wild animals where we are aloud to kill a limited amount. This begins on Oct. 15th. Gallatin Canyon is the north enterance to the Yellow¬stone Park. 0ne of the wonders of the world where over a million people visited last summer. This part of Montana is noted for its beautiful sunsets and many mountain springs, and its hillsides covered with pine trees and also scenic beauty the year around. Your American Friend Carol Hall |
