Ogden, Weber Set Date to Donate Blood OGDEN (Special)—With Ogden Junior Chamber of Commerce leading out, Ogden and Weber County residents will present themselves Thursday and Friday afternoons at the western Pacific- Red Cross military blood pro¬curement car to donate blood for use by the armed service. The car will be stationed in the local railroad yards near 26th St. and Wall Ave., and operations will be carried on in taking blood from volunteer donors from 1 to 6 p.m. both days, according to Mrs. Harmon B. Barton, local Red Cross blood procurement chairman. An appointment for time to be present at the car may be made with the local Red Cross chapter house, or persons may go directly to the car and offer their services. Heading the Jaycee effort will be its public health committee, of which H. C. (Bud) Peterson is chairman, and David T. Clark, committee member. They were signed up Wednesday by Miss Donna Sewell of the local Red Cross offices. Register Now for Nursing Course There is still time to register for the September 6 home nurs¬ing course; Weber county chapter, American Red Cross officials said today. The three-week course will, be conducted at the chapter home on Tuesday and Thursday from one- thirty to three-thirty p. m. The course will include special instruc¬tion in civil defense nursing and treatment of atomic bomb burns. Those wishing to take the course may register by calling the chap¬ter home, 4601. All classes will be taught by Mrs. Dorothy Bur- bridge. Openings Remain In Nurse Course There is still time to register for the Weber county chapter, Ameri¬can Red Cross home nursing course scheduled to start Tuesday, Aug. 21, officials reported today. Mrs. E. J. P. Rowse, chairman of the home nursing committee said the course in home care of the sick, will be the last to be conducted before school opens. The class will be held on Tues¬day and Thursday of each week from nine-thirty to eleven-thirty a. m. It will continue for two weeks. All classes will be con¬ducted at the chapter home, 1961 Washington. Instructor will be Mrs. Lola Norris, registered nurse. Those wishing to take the course are invited to call the chapter home, 4601 and register. The course is free of charge. Registration Open For Nurse Class Registrations are now being ac¬cepted at the Weber county Amer¬ican Red Cross home from persons desiring to take a special three- week home nursing course. The course will start Sept. 6 and will be held on Tuesday and Thurs¬day from one-thirty up three-thirty p.m. The twelve-hour course will include a new two-hour lesson in civil defense nursing information and treatment of atomic bomb burns. The course also affords an op¬portunity for others to make up lessons missed during previous schedules. Anyone holding a home nursing certificate will be allowed take the special lessons. Those interested may register by calling the chapter home, 4601. Class instructor will be Mrs. Dorothy Burbridge, registered nurse. Nursing Clinic to Consider Aspects of Atom Warfare A three-day clinic digging into the nursing aspects of atomic war¬fare will be held August 27, 28 and 29 at the St. Benedict nurses home. The clinic will be from two till five p. m. each day. There will be films and lectures by leading atomic authorities in the state. The program will cover atomic structure, physics and first aid for atomic casualties among other things. First day speakers are Prof. C. A. Osmond of Weber college; Dr. J. G. Olson, and Val Campbell, local director of civilian defense. 4 The clinic is open to register' nurses only, said Miss Elma Humpherys, publicity chairman. All registered nurses are urged to att |
