The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

Store Windows Show March as Red Cross Month That March is Red Cross month is evident if one takes a stroll through the business district. Post¬ers and placards are on display in nearly every window and some places have given a whole window to publicizing Red Cross activities. Conway's Junior Red Cross win¬dow has been attracting much at¬tention. The international friend¬ship fostered by Junior Red Cross is also shown at Toss Gift Shop with beautifully' costumed dolls representing the children of many lands. A large globe of the world centers this exhibit with ribbons from each doll to its home coun¬try on the globe. An excellent window at the Boys' Store shows how the Red Cross promote: good health with its nutrition program. Two meals are set on a table at which a child is seating himself. Posters call at-tention to the fact that one is health giving and nutritious while the other is not. A full sized manikin in white nurses' uniform is the central feature at the Bon Allure. In ad¬dition to Home Nursing Services the Red Cross takes an. active part in the recruiting of nurses dur¬ing emergencies such as the polio epidemics. The^ first aid program of the Red Cross is the theme at McClard's Drug Store and at Argall Phar¬macy. The latter have a huge red cross as background for the first aid supplies. Penney's also are using a large red cross for the neat and colorful display using Red Cross post¬ers in the foreground. |
