Show Final Red Cross Report Postponed Until Friday The third and final report lunch-, eon of the 1951 Weber county Am¬erican Red Cross drive, scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed until Friday noon, it was an¬nounced today by E. LaMar Buck¬ner, drive chairman. The luncheon will be held at the Weber county chapter home, 1961 Washington. Chairman Buckner said the postponement will allow additional time for some divisions to complete their work and submit final reports by Thursday. At the second report luncheon Friday, workers reported a total collection of $29,258 or 54 per cent of the goal of $53,934. It is hoped the quota will be reached at the final report luncheon. Two of the 12 divisions of the drive had exceeded their assigned quota last time. They were the military and residential divisions. Chairman Buckner issued a last- minute appeal to residents of the county and asked that they cooper-ate with volunteer workers in their efforts to gather contributions. He urged all persons who may not be contacted by a representa¬tive of the drive, to mail in their contributions . to the chapter home; 1961 Washington before Friday in order that it may be counted in the report. Red Cross Drive Reaches $47, 080 Contributions to the 1951 Weber j county American Red Cross funds drive reached $47,080 today, or 88 per cent of the total quota o.-l $53,934, E. Of the 12 divisions in the drive, three are now over the top. They are: Military, residential and public employe. Chairman Buckner said contribu¬tions will continue to be accepted at the chapter home until maxi¬mum over-subscription is obtained. 1 A general report meeting will be scheduled later, he said. Fund Victory Is Theirs Red Cross Drive Continues This Month, People Told Residents of Weber county were reminded today that the entire month of March is set aside as American Red Cross month and that contributions will continue to be accepted in the current local fund drive. E. LaMar Buckner, chairman of the 1951 Weber county fund drive urged all persons who have not been contacted oy a volunteer' worker to mail in their contribu¬tions to the chapter home, 1961 Washington. He also issued a special appeal to volunteer division workers who still may have work unaccom¬plished, to make a final canvass and turn in contribution envelopes as soon as possible. At the final report luncheon Friday, drive workers reported they had collected $47,080 or 88 percent of the total goal of $53,- 934. However, Chairman Buckner said that in actuality, drive col¬lections are in better shape than last year when only 84 percent of the goal was obtained by the last report luncheon.* He said this year's figure was also brought down by the fact only 60 percent of the military division's collections were counted in Weber county's share. "So all in all," he said, "the people of Weber county have dug down deeper and have been more generous in their support this year and we thank them for it." Yesterday's report by divisions was as follows: Industrial, $6260, 75 percent; commercial, $7738, 84 percent; transportation, $4151, 89 percent; public service, $5856, 79 percent; residential, $3583, 119 per¬cent, public employes, $4184, 100 percent; Weber county, $802, 31 percent; military, $10,646; 128 percent; men's clubs, $273, 89 percent; women's clubs, $178, 51 percent, and con¬tractors, $475, 48 percent. Chairman Buckner said a final report meeting would be held at a later date in which final tabulations ; would be reported. Date for the meeting will be announced. |
