Weber to Total Mercy Drive OGDEN (Special) —: Red Cross efforts to raise $44,865 in Weber county will be reported upon for the present drive Friday at 12:15 p.m. in a luncheon report session at the Hotel Ben Lomond. Present at the luncheon, which it is hoped will wind up the March campaign^ will be approximately 160 workers, including division chairmen. That the drive may be termi¬nated at that time .was indicated Thursday evening by Gene Robin¬son, chairman of the campaign in the county this year. He said that although some signs have indicated smaller con¬tributions, Thursday afternoon the flow picked up and gave the work¬ers the feeling that the report luncheon will be a time for listing successes. Their division is one of the largest in the drive. 3-17-50 Staff Reminded Of Luncheon Staff Reminded Of Luncheon Division workers in the 1950 Weber county American Red Cross fund drive were reminded today of the third report luncheon, to be held Friday at noon in the Hotel Ben Lomond ballroom. Gene Robinson, drive chairman, urged workers to put forth an extra effort to see that their reports and collections are complete. This luncheon will be sponsored by the First Security bank, Amalgamated Sugar Co., and Becker Products Co. As of the second report luncheon, Friday, March 10, workers had realized $18,090 – 40 per cent of their goal of $44,865. High Report Expected At Luncheon One of the largest volunteer collection groups in the current 1950 Weber county American Red Cross fund drive is the public service division, headed by Eldon Zundel as chairman. The division has already made a fine record for itself at the past two report luncheons and chairman Zundel said he expected the division’s report to be ever better at the third report luncheon, to be held Friday. Assisting Chairman Zundel in the leadership is J. J. Dunbar, vice chairman. Under these two leaders are team captains as follows: George F. Larkin, amusements; William C. Hinds, utilities; J. Parker Coombs, finance; Richard K. Hemingway, hotels; Harold L. Tribe, general; Ezra B. Jones, restaurants, and Ralph Fuller, Jr., laundries and dry cleaners. As of the second report luncheon March 10, volunteers had collected a total of $18,090 or 40 per cent of their entire quota of $44,865, according to Gene Robinson, general chairman. Red Cross Drive Workers Get $37,087, 83 Per Cent of Goal The Red Cross drive in Weber county had reached a total of $37,067, or 83 per cent of the total of $44,865, it was announced today at the third report luncheon at the Ben Lomond hotel. Several of the drive divisions have gone over the top, it was reported, and the others were close to reaching their assigned quotas. More than 200 workers were in attendance at the meeting. This is the last report luncheon, although there will be several group meetings after March 20. Olin H. Ririe, chapter chairman, and Gene Robinson, chairman of the drive, spoke at the luncheon, and urged the drive members to speed their collections. They ex- - pressed confidence that the quota would be exceeded be¬fore the end of their campaign. |
