Blizzards, floods, fires—emergencies like these find the Red Cross ready with a skilled hand, a warm heart, and needed equipment and supplies. Often each month, veterans arc transported to the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City. Hammond, volunteer nurse "recruiting officer" for the Red Cross here. But helping polio victims get well is typical of many vitally important jobs your Red Cross handles so ably. It prevents disease and treats' illness in Weber County homes through home nursing service training. It brightens up nearby military posts and hospitals. It gives counsel and financial help to the men who are, or were, in uniform — 4,500 of them last year.
