The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

Show SERVICE GROUPS being sent to the Far East. They made 4,032,300 individual servings during the year. Social welfare aides worked in Red Cross chapter Home Service departments, in federal and civilian hospitals, in Red Cross field direc¬tors' offices, and in community agencies outside the Red Cross, assisting trained social workers in their duties. Production and Supply Service volunteers made 20,119,100 surgical dressings, 200,000 kit bags for troops in Korea and in military hospitals in Japan, and provided 35,000 gift-wrapped pack¬ages—each containing six gifts—for servicemen who spent Christmas Day on ships at sea. Arts and Skills workers taught painting, sketch¬ing, silk screening, ceramics, and other handi¬crafts to thousands in hospitals, in children's homes, and in homes for the aged.
