THE OTHER GENTLEMAN I WISH TO MENTION THIS EVENING IS CHARLIE ANDERSON, AS MOST OF YOU KNOW, CHARLIE'S DOCTOR RECOMMENDED STRONGLY THAT CHARLIE LIGHTEN HIS WORKLOAD AND SURRENDER THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE'S POST AT SRI. THIS WAS NOT WELCOME NEWS FOR THOSE OF US AT SRI BUT ALL OF US - DIRECTORS AND STAFF ALIKE - HOLD CHARLIE WITH SUCH AFFECTION THAT WE COULD ONLY ACCEPT THIS DECISION, HOWEVER RELUCTANTLY. CHARLIE WAS PATIENT AND COOPERATIVE AS WE SOUGHT HIS SUCCESSOR AND HE IS REMAINING AS A DIRECTOR OF SRI UNTIL THIS FALL. THE UNIQUE POSITION THAT CHARLIE OCCUPIED WITH HIS ASSOCIATES CAME THROUGH CLEARLY IN THE MANNER IN WHICH HIS DEPARTURE WAS OBSERVED.
