2. Whatever Bill does, he does with great dedication. He likes and knows good music - operatic, symphonic, country western. Toynbee is reputed to have said: "Bill Hewlett knows more history than most history professors." - and I suspect that this is true. His scientific accomplishments are impressive and widely recognized. His memory for things historic or scientific is flawless. His memory for names is not! When he was courting the widow Rosemary Bradford, he constantly introduced her as Mrs. Bradley and rumor has it that he married her in part so he could remember her name. Incidentally, Rosie was an English major but Bill has spent a good part of the seven years of their marriage improving her grammar - and everyone else's. This is a little ostentatious for a fellow who has proved over the years that no one - not even he - can bring the pun to perfection. Bill is also a photographer who will put a heavy Hasselblad camera in his back pack, along with canned sardines, cheese, crackers, beer, and wine, and a big book on flowers with flowers pressed among its pages. He will spend hours photographing a wild flower, waiting for the light to be just right, lying on his back in the swamp if this is necessary for the perfect picture. His pictures of flowers are perfect. His pictures of people are not. These are taken in haste, mostly out-of-focus torso shots often missing the face, arms, and legs. His pictures of flowers are carefully chronicled in his computer for future identification. His pictures of people are hard to identify because of the missing parts. Male or female is about as close as you can come.
