The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

Blood Bank Stalled LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., Sept, 8 (UP) - A U. N. blood bank for Korea is stalled over the Red Cross policy of designating the race of donos. A U. N. committee objected on the ground that designations run counter to the U. N. charter and scientific proof that all human blood is the same. Sept. 8, 1950 9/7/50 Polio Volunteers Studying Nursing Twenty-three members of the polio emergency volunteers of Weber county are taking the home nursing course offered by the Weber county chapter, American Red Cross. Mrs. Twyla Beck, vice president of the organization, said members of the group will take the full two-week course and will receive certificates of completion. The classes are being conducted in the afternoon and evening by Mrs. Katherine Eckenbrecht. |
