The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

Show Gallatin County High School Bozeman, Montana November 16, 1951. Dear Junior Re Gross Friend, In this letter I will tell you about our surround-ings. We live in Gallatin Valley, This valley has some of the best land in the United States. Bozeman is the county seat of Gallatin county. To the east of us are the Bridger mountains, to the west the Jefferson range and to the north the Horseshoe Hills. Most of the land is fairly level. Some of the land is irrigated and some is dry land farmed. Much of the land is quite fertile. Cattle and sheep are the main livestock in the valley. Hogs and horses are also raised. There are at least thirty different kinds of trees in the valley. Gallatin is noted for it's scenery. Gallatin abounds with wildlife. There are elk, moose, deer, and bear for our hunting skills. One of the most popular game birds is the Chinese Pheasant. There are several kinds of trout in the streams and some whitefish. Your American friend Theresa Gaffney |
