The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

In noting the increase in the 1951 goal of nearly $10,000 over the 1950 goal, officials pointed to the increased military expansions on a nation-wide scale, civil defense program, and reactivation of sur-rounding military bases on a near war-time basis. Last year's goal was $44,865. Headquarters for this year's drive will be at the chapter home, 1961 Washington. E. Roland Harriman, president of the national organization, sparked the Utah fund drive dur¬ing a visit in Ogden recently. He outlined the growing responsibili¬ties given the Red Cross in recent years and the increased activities it has brought. He said the national blood pro¬gram has called for new fields of work in supplying whole blood for military needs. |
