The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

Show 3. Check carefully to see that reports and returns are properly made. BUSINESS DISTRICT DIVISION FIELD OF OPERATION The downtown business district where stores, offices, and office build¬ings are concentrated. PLAN 1. Mark out the business district on city map. Divide into convenient zones or districts and determine number of business blocks to be covered. 2. Obtain last year's list of businesses with names of persons to he seen and previous record in giving. Bring this up to date. 3. List large office buildings, arrange for a chairman of each. Prepare "stop cards," indicating that the block worker should not solicit in these buildings. 4. Arrange for coverage of outlying business districts. When they are situated in residential sections, they can be assigned to residential division. 5. Assign quota to this division, based on past experience and new economic conditions. 6. Determine number of workers needed. ORGANIZE 1. District the territory and select leaders for zones or districts. 2. Enlist all workers needed. 3. Assign one block to each worker, keeping to a maximum of 15 calls. 4. Cover large buildings, floor by floor. SOLICIT 1. Begin solicitation on March 1. 2. See every employee in every store personally. 3. Be sure to cover residential apartments over stores. 4. Emphasize use of window emblems and 100% posters. RESIDENTIAL DIVISION FIELD OF OPERATION The houses and apartment buildings in all residential sections of the town or city. PLAN 1. Use town or city maps. Mark out the residential territory, decide on best -10- natural division of territory. Assign quotas. 2. Break down these divisions into districts or blocks small enough so that no worker will have more than 20 homes to cover. 3. Ascertain location and size of apartment houses and plan for a key person in each large apartment house, usually a resident of that apartment house. 4. Determine number of workers needed. 5. Plan information meetings for all workers. ORGANIZE 1. Be sure to enlist a sufficient number of workers to see every prospect in this division. Select area or zone leaders first. They will select their workers. 2. Pack envelopes of supplies for all workers in accordance with economy and study of past experience. Consider how many of each item are needed and used. Do not insert more supplies than necessary. 3. Hold information meetings for workers. Have a good speaker, a motion picture, or exhibits; practice questions and answers. 4. Make definite arrangements for delivery of supplies. Be sure workers know how, when, and where to report. SOLICIT 1. Have all workers start on the opening day of campaign. 2. Hold report meetings to encourage and stimulate residential workers. 3. Try to cover residential district quickly. 4. Solicit each adult in the residence. 5. Make repeat calls when necessary. 6. Follow up and follow through until all districts have been completely covered. BRANCHES AND OUTLYING AREA DIVISION FIELD OF OPERATION This division covers that part of chapter jurisdiction outside the head¬quarters city or town. PLAN 1. Plan major campaign organization in each branch as done in chapter, following outline of this Campaign Guide. 2. Define territory of each branch by use of maps. Assign quotas. 3. Divide rural territory in branches into geographical divisions for field coverage. Assign quotas. |
