Show Marriott-Slaterville History March 2014 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History March 2014 March came in like a lamb, but went out like a lion! We received some much need rain in the valleys and snow in the mountains to help ease the lingering drought. Typical spring weather in Utah brought some warm, sunny days as well as cold and stormy. We are very grateful for the moisture received! The regularly scheduled City Council and Planning Commission Meetings were both cancelled this month for lack of business items. The March issue of The Pioneer Post invited all children ages 1-8 to join the Marriott-Slaterville City Easter Egg Hunt next month at the Slaterville Park on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10:00 am, rain or shine. The Easter Bunny will make a special appearance so bring your camera! This event is sponsored by the Les Olson Company and Jay Camahan-State Farm Insurance. Marriott-Slaterville has joined with Harrisville City for youth recreation programs this year. Baseball and Softball sign-ups for grades K-9 are just around the corner. Sign-up will run March 1st through March 31st. In addition, they are seeking several seasonal employees to staff the summer recreation program. Please visit the Harrisville City website at www.citvofharrisville.com for more information. Marriott-Slaterville and Harrisville are also trying to determine community interest regarding a volleyball program as part of the youth recreation. Divisions may be offered for grades 5-9. The season may be during July, August, and/or September, and games may be played indoors at Orion Junior High School. Please email any comments to Bryan Fife at bfife@cityofharrisville.com. Comments/responses will be taken during March, at which time a decision will be made as to whether or not there is enough interest to support a volleyball league. The Annual Meeting of the North Slaterville Irrigation Company will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Marriott-Slaterville City Offices. Thanks to all who took the time to volunteer, weed, clean-up, and trim the plants in our Community Gardens last year. There were youth groups and many adults who helped prepare the gardens for the long winter. Now that spring is upon us, we will need a lot of helpers to prepare our gardens for the new growing season. Please let Sandra Saunders [801-731-2123] or DeAnn Hufstetler [801-731- 5129] know if you or your group can help for 1-2 hours this spring. THANK YOU! FYI: It's not too early to begin pruning trees and shrubs and cut down perennials, except tender perennials. You can also cut down ornamental grasses or burn them if you're careful and watch the air quality. Clean-up, volunteer, and SHOW WHAT A GREAT CITY WE ARE!! |
