Show Marriott-Slaterville History April 2014 The upcoming Easter Egg Hunt and 4th of July were discussed. The City celebrated Arbor Day by honoring Sandra and Jonathan Saunders for all of their volunteer service in community forestry and gardening. Mayor Butler reported that he would have the tentative budget for the next meeting. Council President Dennis Ilium asked about the status of the sewer line and was informed they are having problems going under the freeway and are bringing in a new company to see if they can cut under the freeway. Councilman Kim Slater asked that the pot holes by his house be filled. Bits and Pieces LaRee Elmer Shurtliff of Marriott-Slaterville City celebrated her 98 birthday on April 9, 2014. Rylan Brent Simmons, 23, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 15, 2014. A celebration of his life was held on April 21st at the Marriott-Slaterville Church. Kaysville native Whit Johnson, who now lives in Marriott-Slaterville, was featured in the Standard-Examiner for his halftime shows called UniHoops at Weber State University basketball games. He is a budget analyst for Weber State by day and a juggling unicycle performer by night. His wife, Meg Johnson, who is a motivational speaker, will be featured at When Life Gets Hard...A Conference to Celebrate Trials on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Weber State University Shepherd Union Building. Two suspects were taken into custody after leading police on a high-speed chase Monday, April 21, 2014 that began at 1:00 pm in Summit County and ended 90 minutes later in Weber County. The vehicle eventually exited the freeway at 400 North and headed westbound on Pioneer Road, finally coming to a stop near 3650 West in Marriott-Slaterville. The newspaper erroneously identified the location as Farr West. The suspects were eventually cornered and apprehended at the nearby residence of Frank Eggett. Due to severe weather with high winds on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 there were several moderate power outages throughout the Wasatch Front. Roughly 1,500 residents near the Ogden and Marriott-Slaterville border were without power late Tuesday night after a series of small power pole fires in the area. |
