Show property dispute Editor, . _n oni/l Regarding the front page June zu> ZU14 article of June 4, "Video intensifies campaign: Claims strike a nerve in Weber recorder's employees," could it be that finally the nerve is exposed to the light of truth? What do I mean by that? I can only share with you my personal experience and let you determine for yourself what is at stake in this "campaign." My 85 year-old mother owns 50 acres and wants everything to be in order before she passes. Last fall we went into the recorder's office to ask for help with a boundary-line dispute we had discovered needed correcting. After some research, we were told we needed to take care of the problem ourselves. Our own efforts failed, understandably so, as this was an issue with property ownership being shown incorrectly on the county tax maps. The first part of this year we went back to the county and met with Mr. Rowley, not his staff, hoping that he might be able to advise us and help us fix this boundary dispute once and for all. Mr. Rowley listened to our concerns and answered our myriad of questions very thoroughly and completely. Upon leaving his office we had not only found someone very knowledgeable regarding the law, but a true advocate for us, the landowners. Back to the article. It says Rowley's "video struck a nerve" also "our work is portrayed as an error when actually it is a carefully considered judgment call." When that comes to property lines and landowners, one must • ask, who is making that judgment call and how accurate is it? In our case it was about a nine-acre error in judgment. I feel that the article did not inform the public of Mr. Rowley's honest track record. He not only talks the talk, he actually walks the walk and knows precisely what he's doing and why, and that is to do what is lawful and right for all of us here in Weber County. His efforts will restore my mother's property and correct a mapping error. . Claudia Farr Ogden |
