Show The Pioneer Post Volume XVI Issue 12 Marriott-Slaterville City Newsletter December 2014 1570 West 400 North - Phone 801 -627-1919 Christmas Message by Keith Butler, Mayor It is hard to believe that we are already coming to the end of 2014. This year our community has enjoyed some wonderful events. The Fourth of July seems like it was just yesterday. We celebrated at Marriott Park in the summer heat with friends and family. This fall our Trunk- or-Treat event was again the best party in town. I appreciate our community and volunteers who make all our events a success. As the year ends, we are wrapping up our annual audit. I remind each resident and business that Marriott-Slaterville City does not impose a city property tax or an energy franchise tax. This is a benefit you all enjoy by being a part of this community. Also, we have a new business on 12th Street opening and we welcome Tear-A-Part Auto to the community. Our businesses help our city prosper, offer jobs, and new opportunities. I congratulate our city staff, they have worked hard this year to bring in two grants to complete important projects. We received a CDBG grant to complete the parking area at Marriott Park. We also received a Weber R.A.M.P. grant to install a parking area on 1700 South as a Centennial Trail Head. These grants allow our community to make valuable improvements while still keeping costs affordable. Our staff will continue to work hard in finding grants to benefit our city. In closing, may you all enjoy a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year! Community Awards Nominations for our annual community awards has been extended to December 12th.
