Show Grant Stanger March 21, 1929 ~ June 28, 2014 Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Grant Stanger, passed away peacefully at his home in Marriott, early Saturday morning, June 28, 2014. He was born March 21, 1929 to Helen Dorothy McFarland and Raymond David Stanger. He often shared many boyhood memories of working on the farm. He learned to labor with integrity and strength from good, hard-working parents. Grant attended Weber County Schools, graduating from Weber High in 1948. He married Marilyn Law that summer, June 30, in the Logan LDS Temple. She preceded him in death after 64 years of marriage, on September 11, 2012. They spent a lifetime together, raising a family of five children, and serving the Lord in many callings in the Marriott Ward, including counselor in the bishopric and ward clerk. He retired as a respected supervisor from IRS, but found his greatest satisfaction building homes. His self-built homes dot the Marriott-Slaterville landscape with long-lasting quality and beauty. With each home, he improved his layout and building skills, often checking out books from the library to learn more or asking advice from other skilled builders. His homes were filled with big windows, wide hallways and lots of electrical outlets. They are a joy to live in! His posterity has continued that legacy. Grant was soft spoken and had a tender heart. He spent much of his life as a caregiver. He influenced the lives of his posterity and extended family with his quiet service and ardent love. He especially cared for the little children and always had time for them. We will miss his quirky sense of humor, his pickle jokes, and his bowls of ice cream and chocolate chip cookies. He is survived by his three sisters, Shirley (DaWayne, deceased) Taylor, Sherma (Luke) Mildon, Dixie Bingham; children, Susan (Kent, deceased) Fuller, Eden; Douglas (Marilyn) Stanger, Kaysville; Jan (Lynn) Larsen, Springville; Mark (Debbie) Stanger, Marriott and Cristine (Todd) Wheeler, Plain City; 25 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom he treasured. As his family, young and old, we give tribute to our patriarch for his valiant journey with Alzheimers disease. A viewing will be held at the Marriott-Slaterville Ward Chapel, Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 10: 45 a.m. prior to Services at 11 a.m. interment at the Ogden City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations be made to the General Missionary Fund. Grant always loved the missionaries and did much to support them. Many of Grants sons and grandchildren have honorably served, and he currently has two grandsons serving full-time missions. Arrangements entrusted to Myers Ogden Mortuary.
