Mayor Butler presented another balanced budget to the City Council. The new budget includes a modest surplus that will be set aside for future capital projects. Marriott-Slaterville City is one of the few cities in the state that operates without a municipal property tax. The no property tax policy will continue with this new budget. Although garbage costs have increased 1%, this increase will be absorbed by the city's garbage fund and will not be passed on to residents. The City has received two grants for capital projects this summer. The first grant is a Weber County Recreation, rts, Museums, and Parks (R.A.M.P.) grant that will create a trailhead facility for the Centennial Trail along the Ogden River on 1700 South. The City has benefitted from the R.A.M.P. grant program of Weber County which is scheduled for a re-authorization election this November. The second grant is a Community Development Block Grant (C.D.B.G.) that will complete the Jong awaited parking area and improvements at Marriott Park. The city administration and officials will continue to work to provide efficient and effective services and improvements in the community. The city recognizes its many volunteers who help in multiple capacities ranging from community events, to serving on boards and commissions, to gardening. These volunteers are central in continuing the creation of the beautiful community we enjoy today. ___ LEGISLATIVE REPORT Dennis Ilium, City Council Marriott-Slaterville City has two separate but equal branches of government.
